This is the most common presenting problem at the clinic. Hard skin on your feet can be very painful.
Corns are smaller areas of thick skin that develop on the tops and sides of toes or on the sole of the foot. Calluses are hard, rough areas of skin that are often found on the heels or under the ball of the foot.
Many patients will put off having treatment for too long in the belief that the removal of corns and callous can be a painful experience.
The sooner the corn and callous is treated the easier it is to remove, however patients with long standing corns often remark how comfortable the process was and how they wish they had come in months ago to have it dealt with!
We can also give advice and treatment to prevent recurrence or manage the problem. This is usually achieved though the use of orthoses , corrective footwear or pressure relieving insoles.
